adayel

Under the influence of Draupnir the Feathered Serpent, the lizardmen of Morak have developed a civilization in the swamps. Draupnir hopes that the Sadayel will counterbalance the growing power of the orks, who worship his mortal enemy, Azhi Dahaka, the Fire Dragon.

The Sadayel live in villages that stand on stilts above the swamps of Morak. They tend to settle in wooded swampland or mangrove forests, building their houses among the trees, and in harmony with nature. Sadayel settlements are found throughout Morak.

Due to the benevolent influence of Draupnir, the civilization of the Sadayel is growing more advanced. They are good smiths, expert farmers of reclaimed swampland, and have mastered the arts of reading and writing. Their area of excellence, however, is magic: like the Mirdain elves, the Sadayel seem to have a mentality that is especially well suited to mastering the arcane arts.

For as long as anyone can remember, there has been hatred between the Sadayel and the orks. Members of these races attack each other on sight, and seek out each others’ settlements in order to eradicate them. Neighbouring clans will continue fighting until one annihilates the other: peace between ork and Sadayel is unthinkable.

hysical description

Sadayel closely resemble their duller cousins, the ordinary lizardmen. Their skin is a much lighter shade of green, however, and unlike lizardmen, the Sadayel have a protruding, jagged spinal ridge that runs from their tails to their foreheads.

The Sadayel wear loose-fitting, white scale mail that bears a passing resemblance to the hide of a silver dragon. They wield graceful longswords that are made of the same whitish metal as their armour, and they carry round, metal-plated shields. Sadayel commonly throw volleys of thin, metal-tipped spears at their opponents before engaging in melee combat.

In honour of their god, the Sadayel wear feathered headpieces, and decorate their shields and spears with the plumage of colourful birds. Their shields are commonly decorated with a portrait of a rampant, feather-clad serpent.

ehaviour and tactics

The Sadayel are mediocre fighters but excellent magicians. Therefore, their basic tactic involves fighters protecting spellcasters while the latter bombard the enemy with magic. Lizardmen archers provide further cover, using medium-sized bows which curve drastically inward at either end.

In addition to orks, Sadayel will instantly attack any evil creature that strays into their territory. Unless some misunderstanding occurs, they will not attack good or neutrally aligned beings.
